Denzel Washington’s Wife Reveals He Proposed 3 Times Before She Said ‘Yes!’

Third time’s a charm — at least it was for Denzel Washington and his wife of more than 30 years Pauletta.

At the Los Angeles premiere of the Oscar Award winner’s latest film 2 Guns, Mrs. Washington said told Access Hollywood that her hubby proposed three times before she said yes.

 “It was three times?” Denzel said, before insisting that it was only twice.

“It was three times,” Pauletta corrected. “I know with age sometimes things [go], the mind [goes].”

“Why was it twice? Why would I have to ask again?” he asked in response.

“Because I said no!” the mother of four fired back.

“You heard it here first,” Denzel joked. “She turned me down, she said no. And since it was three times, that means she turned me down twice.”

Pauletta stood corrected. “That’s true. I turned you down twice and the third time we did it.”

Real love is hard to come by in Hollywood and we’re glad  the Washingtons prove that it’s possible. The lovebirds celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary on June 25.
