Jonathan appoints Ekpu, Bongos Ikwue, others into boards


President Goodluck Jonathan has approved the composition and appointments of the chairmen and members of the governing boards of 42 Federal Government parastatals and agencies.

Among the appointees are music legend, Bongos Ikwue; Nollywood actor, Kanayo O. Kanayo; former Editor-in-Chief of Newswatch Magazine, Ray Ekpu; and former Governor of Anambra State, Chief Chukwuemeka Ezeife.

A statement by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim, on Tuesday announced the appointments.

The SGF said the dates for the formal inauguration of the governing boards would be announced in due course by the supervising authorities and ministers.

The Centre for Black and African Arts and Culture has as Chairman Gen. Yusuf Brimmo (retd), while Ekpu, Mr. Paul  Ogbonnaia, Mr. Folorunsho Taiwo, Madam Rhoda, Patrick Aiden Anuda, Oyedokun Oladepo and Frank Ikpeze are members.

Ezeife will chair the Board of The National Commission for Colleges of Education while Mrs. Margaret Zidon, Alhaji Mohammed Dantsoho and Mrs. Ngozi Nnadozie will serve as members.

The Nigerian Film Corporation, Jos, has Chief Bongos Ikwue as chairman while Sani Danja, Wada Musa, and Bright Chinedu Nnebedum will serve as members.

The National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism Studies board has Kanayo as the chairman but members were not named.

For the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology, Prince Olusola Akanmode is the chairman while the members are Mr. Idonibin Obagama, Alhaji Garba Dahiru, Mr. Mahmud Gurumpawo, and Dr. Mohammed Abdulkadir (Salankan Zazzau).

Sen. Abubakar H. Girei will chair the board of the National Mathematical Centre. The members are Prof. G.A Badmus, Stephen Ahaneku and Dr. Zilkifilu Abdu.

The Universal Basic Education Commission has HH. A. J. Turner as Chairman while the members are Mohammed Bello, Hon. Chuma Nnaji, Hauwa Musa Kida, Abubakar L. Audu, Hon. Tarfa Atu, Engr. Kunle Yusuf, Nnalue Kingsley Chizobam, Dr. Sharon Oviemuno and Mathias Ekweremadu.

The National Institute for Education Planning and Administration has Elder Bolaji Anani as chairman, while members are Hajiya Jamila Baba Buhari and Barrister Nma Mowete.

The National Institute for Fresh Water Fisheries Research has Alhaji Arma Yau Abubakar as Chairman while Chief Francis Ayodele, Chief George Moghalu, Mr. Bimbola Yusuf and Oche Elias will serve as members.

The Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria has Alhaji Sulieman Galadima as the chairman while members are Umoru Ningi, Bennette Ughamadu, Yinka Adeojo and Mr. Uche Igbokwe.
