Report from an undisclosed impeccable source has it that the
president’s resolved to meet with the five northern governors was borne out of
the resolution arrived at the meeting with the former President, Olusegun
Obasanjo.
Although the outcome of the meeting was not officially
disclosed, a source who pleaded anonymity had told journalists that the
Governors had expressed their grievances over the presidency’s support for Jang
as the Forum’s Chairman when it was clear that Amaechi won the election.
It was equally gathered that the Governors frowned at the
way PDP National Chairman, Bamanga Tukur handles the affairs of the PDP, asking
that he be sacked for peace to return to the party.
“The President was told to support the chairman of the NGF,
who is from his zone and who was elected by the majority of the governors.
“They also told him that he should realise that he came to
office through election and not through endorsement, which Jona Jang is
claiming to have before the NGF election.
“They told the President pointedly that there was no way he
could wash his hands off what is happening in both the NGF and Rivers State and
that he must act as a leader.
“They said if he could do these three things, the tension in
the country would be reduced drastically,” the source had disclosed..
